The objective of cooperation between the Institute of Public Health of the Faculty of Health Sciences of the Jagiellonian University Medical College (JU MC) and the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences of the University of Maastricht has been to establish the academic exchange of researchers and lecturers. Both universities work together and exchange scientific ideas and experiences in the area of public health education. One of the forms of cooperation is annual visits (study travels to Krakow) of the second-year BSc European Public Health students of the University of Maastricht to the Institute of Public Health JU MC. During these visits, the students of the University of Maastricht participate in lecture sessions which are led by professors from the Jagiellonian University, mainly from the Institute of Public Health JU MC. In addition, students from the University of Maastricht have an opportunity to visit hospitals and clinics in Krakow, and other private and public entities, as well as various NGO-s. All of these organizations constitute a very important part of the Polish health care system. During their visits, the students can learn about different managerial successes and problems of these organizations. Additionally, the programme is filled with many social activities. The Polish Coordinator of this cooperation has been Dr. Ewa Błaszczyk-Bębenek from the Institute of Public Health JU MC.
