Visit of the Ukrainian delegation from the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” at the Institute of Public Health FHS JU MC and the international hybrid seminar “Building university partnerships through cooperation in scientific research and education – focus on public health and health care”

From September 15th to 19th, 2024, the Institute of Public Health (IPH) in Krakow hosted a delegation from the National University “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” (NUKMA). They were, in alphabetical order, Professors Pavlo Maistruk (Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences NUKMA), Alona Mazhnaia, Maryna Shevchenko, Tetiana Yurochko (Head of the School of Public Health NUKMA). The main objective of the visit was to introduce the academic staff of both universities to each other and to discuss and plan scientific and didactic cooperation in the field of public health.

In addition to meetings and talks among the academic staff, the Guests from Kyiv visited the University Hospital in Krakow, where after being welcomed by the Deputy Director for Coordination and Development, Ms. Joanna Konopka, a presentation of the hospital and a discussion, they had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with selected organizational units of the hospital, including laboratory and diagnostic units.

An important event associated with the visit was the hybrid seminar “Building university partnerships through cooperation in scientific research and education – focus on public health and health care”. The program of this seminar is attached. It was conducted in cooperation with the academic centers from Poland and abroad, listed below, including the following:

The visit of the guests from Kyiv and the international seminar took place as part of a two-year agreement concluded between JU MC and EHESP and a project aimed at providing financial support for international cooperation in the field of public health, in the special context of the war in Ukraine and the Russian invasion of that country. In addition, the joint seminar was another stage of cooperation within the framework of agreements signed in the last few years between JU MC and the National University “Ostrog Academy” in Ostroh, the School of Public Health Management of the Republic of Moldova in Chisinau, and the Bogomolets National Medical University in Kyiv.
