5-th of March 2021.
The day of 04-th of March 2021 marked the first anniversary of launching the YouTube channel that familiarizes the Polish society with and promotes public health, and public health-related opportunities to study at the Jagiellonian University – Medical College. It also informs about professional careers in public health and on non-medical job positions within health care. We currently offer Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Public Health and Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Management. The YouTube channel is run by the scientific and didactic staff of the Institute of Public Health, Faculty of Health Sciences JU MC. So far 37 videos have been published, with over 3,700 views. The number of viewers is growing – we encourage the academic community to subscribe to the channel and to like the videos – it is worthwhile from time to time to read and listen to the interesting content which is being published there (predominantly in Polish but we plan to publish more also in English and Russian, as well).
In recent days, the Institute of Public Health came out also with another initiative that promotes public health, science and university studies at the JU MC. A podcast channel called Podcasts of the Institute of Public Health (Podkasty Instytutu Zdrowia Publicznego WNZ UJ CM) has been established. It is now available on popular podcast platforms, such as Spotify, Google Podcasts, Podcast Addict or AntennaPod, among others. The podcast and YouTube channels have become complementary to the existing means of popular science media, carried out intensively for more than 3 years – first via websites and the Facebook fanpage founded at that time, and then successively – accounts on Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. These activities are closely connected with cooperation of our research and teaching staff with high schools (lectures and webinars for secondary level schools’ students), the Public Health Blog, the series of interviews with the Alumni, and many other activities which popularize knowledge and higher education. This also includes international cooperation within the This Is Public Health campaign.
We encourage the academic community to follow the activities of the Colleagues from the Institute of Public Health, Faculty of Health Sciences JU MC!
