From Kraków Main Railway Station, you can reach the Kraków City Hall quickly and conveniently either on foot or by using public transport. Due to the short distance from the city centre, both options are practical and often comparable in terms of travel time.
Walking through the Old Town
The most natural and at the same time the most attractive option is a walk through Kraków’s historic city centre. The route leads along Floriańska Street, then across the Main Market Square, and further down Grodzka Street to All Saints’ Square (Plac Wszystkich Świętych).
The walk takes around 25 minutes, covering a distance of approximately 1.5–1.8 km. It is a comfortable and well-marked route that also allows you to see the most important landmarks in the city centre.
As an alternative to walking, you can take a short tram ride. From the “Teatr Słowackiego” stop, located near the Main Railway Station, you can travel to the “Św. Gertrudy” stop.
The tram ride takes about 3–5 minutes, followed by a short 3–5 minute walk to the conference venue. Nearby stops such as “Filharmonia” and “Plac Wszystkich Świętych” also provide convenient access to the City Hall.
Public transport tickets are available from ticket machines (on trams/buses and at stops). Approximate prices: 4 PLN for a 15‑minute ticket, 6 PLN for a 30‑minute ticket, and 8 PLN for a 60‑minute ticket.
A taxi ride from the Main Railway Station to the conference venue usually takes 10–25 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs approximately 25–40 PLN.
John Paul II International Airport Kraków–Balice is located about 11 km from the city centre. Several transport options are available depending on your preferred travel time and comfort level.
Train (fastest option)
The most recommended means of transport is the direct train operated by Koleje Małopolskie, connecting the airport with “Kraków Główny” station.
The journey takes around 17–20 minutes, with trains running approximately every 30 minutes. The ticket price is around 20 PLN.
After arriving at the Main Railway Station, you can continue on foot through the Old Town or take a tram, as described above.
City buses
Another option is public bus transport (lines 209, 300, and night line 902). This is a cheaper solution, though usually less comfortable and more time‑consuming.
Travel time ranges from about 20 to over 30 minutes, depending on the line and traffic conditions. Note that not all lines go directly to the city centre, so an additional tram ride or a short walk may be required.
Taxi / private transport services
The most comfortable option—especially when travelling with larger luggage or during night hours—is a taxi or private transport service.
Travel time from the airport to the city centre is usually 30–40 minutes, and the cost ranges from 90 to 150 PLN.
